Gujarat's BJP MPs seek bullet train to Mumbai

Ahmedabad - BJP MPs from Gujarat have asked the railway ministry to
take steps for starting bullet train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. A
delegation met railways minister Dinesh Trivedi and submitted a
memorandum to him seeking next generation railway infrastructure for
the state.
The delegation, which included Harin Pathak, Vijay Rupani, Smriti
Irani, CR Patil, among others, told the minister that final report of
the pre-feasibility study for the bullet train between Ahmedabad and
Mumbai had already been submitted. They requested him to announce the
bullet train project as a special project in the upcoming railway
budget.
They urged the minister to upgrade the Ahmedabad (Kalupur) railway
station to a world class facility. The MPs made a presentation
regarding various demands of Gujarat in respect of railway projects
before the railways minister. They sought more attention towards
important pending issues for providing better rail infrastructure in
the state, which they said had emerged as the growth engine of the
country. The MPs demanded high speed rail link between Ahmedabad and
Dholera on urgent basis, pointing to the huge investments Dholera SIR
was projected to attract.
Seeking better connectivity between Gandhinagar and other cities,
they suggested that trains running between Ahmedabad and North Indian
cities should pass through Gandhinagar, besides doubling and
conversion of tracks on important routes. They demanded new long-
distance trains with broad gauge connectivity from Somnath, Dwarka
and Ambaji.
Assuring the delegation that he would look into matter, the minister
said he would do the needful with regards to the state's demands in
the forthcoming budget.
