What is eating Mumbai's roads?

The last three years have seen more than 30 cave-ins on
crucial roads in the city. The latest was on Monday, when
a small portion of the Madam Cama Road near Regal Cinema
gave way, choking traffic all through the day. Geeta
Desai digs deeper to find out what’s ailing our roads.

In the underbelly of the sprawling city is a web of
various underground utility networks — huge pipelines
belonging to storm water drains, sewerage and water
departments, as well as cables from agencies like MTNL,
Tata Power, Reliance and Mahanagar Gas Limited.
